In Zarouchla. The Tower of Asimaki Fotilla

Half way from Akrata to Zarouchla route, on our right, appears the beautiful, green lake of Tsivlos which was created after a landslide in the mountains of Achaia, inside the fir tree forest in the mountain massif of Helmos. On its banks you can go hiking, cycling and safe rowing along its short length. Absolute tranquility, rejuvenating fresh air. Have a stop for lunch in “Petrino”.

Another route is Eurostini – Karya Feneos – lake Doxa

Karya: A monument that shows the historical origin of Karya is the Byzantine Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, built in a basilica rhythm, and estimated by experts that it was built in the 13th century. In Karya, the church of Panagia is also located, built in 1850, a magnificent, imposing byzantine church with a bronze dome.

The monastery of Agios Georgios or “Fonias”, an impressive structure built in 1693 and fully renovated in 1754 from fire damage. The first monastery, built in the 14th century, was the “Palaiomonastiro” as it is called nowadays which was later abandoned (17th century) when the lake flooded the plain of Feneus and the monks were forced to move to a higher point. Today it is located inside the lake and communicates with the mainland through a narrow strip of land. Contains remarkable frescoes and heirlooms of exceptional art.
